Preflight Checklist:

ROCKET
 

1. Is the nosecone or payload section sufficiently tight to prevent drag separation or wobble?

2. Are the launch lugs or rail buttons or guides securely fastened to the rocket? And of sufficient size? They should NOT bind, but should move freely up and down the launch conveyance.

3. Are the fins fully secured to the rocket, with no cracks, and parallel to the roll axis of the rocket?

MOTOR
4. Is (are) the motor(s) sufficient to safely fly the rocket and currently certified?

5. Is (are) the motor(s) firmly restrained in the rocket to prevent fly-through ejection?

6. If a reloadable motor, are all parts used and ejection charge installed?

Recovery System
7. Did you remember to pack and correctly attach your parachute? And use biodegradable wadding?

8. Is the shock cord free of burns, frays or cuts and of sufficient size and length to support the rocket?

9. Is the shock cord securely mounted to the rocket and any swivels, screw eyes, etc.? Is it strong enough to withstand recovery loads?

10. If electronics are used, is the battery and electrical connection secured against >G= loads?

11. After RSO inspection, once at the launch pad, are all igniters or ejection charges inserted in the rocket and protected against inadvertent operation?

Field Job Descriptions:

High Power Pad Manager - Job Description:
A) Safety the Pad (in order:)
Safe/deactivate the launch controller.
Disconnect the positive (red) cable clip from the battery post.
B) Loading Rocket on Rod/Rail
Make sure rocket is on appropriate launch rod.
Make sure there is freedom of movement on rod, i.e., no binding of any sort.
First, allow flyer to activate any electronics.
Then, allow flyer to install igniter(s).
Before igniter clips are connected to igniter, touch/scratch the igniter clips together, then separate clips from each other and connect to igniter.
C) Clear all flyers from pad area. Flyers to return to spectator areas.
D) Notify the LCO that pads are clear and ready to arm. 
E) On command from LCO, arm the pads - Start arming the furthest row of pads first, then arm the next row of pads, working your way to the LCO, one color row at a time, by:
First, connecting the positive (red) battery clip, then arm that rows launch controller. Proceed to next row and do the same.
F) Pad Manager returns to LCO table.


High Power Pad Assignment:
A) Make sure flight cards are initialed from RSO.

B) Verify launch lug size of the rocket with the size rod indicated on the flight card.

C) Maintain order. Do not allow flyers to go to pads until LCO says it=s o.k.

Use ropes/bungee at end of flight line to control number of flyers out at pads, i.e., use your discretion to make sure that there is no congestion at pads. 
Allow only the number of flyers, setting up at the pads, that you and the LCO feel is safe at any one time.
Do not allow last minute flyers, unless the LCO permits.


Estes Pad Manager/Assignment:
A) Safety the Pad
